Restaurant Review: Jing Chuan

It's hard to accurately describe how I feel about Jing Chuan.  It's a combination of nostalgia and just excitement about delicious food.  One of the best things about the Jing is it's consistency.  The same entrees we ordered in 1995 are the exact same today.  Which I love.

The restaurant itself might need a little updating, but again, if the food is this wonderful and consistent, I overlook decor.

We took TNT there a few weeks ago and she loved it!!  We ordered:

Spring Rolls (extra hot mustard for me)
These little rolls are so crispy, filled with shrimp and veggies.  That wrapper is paper thin!

Basil Chicken
What a fun and complex dish - the chicken is so tender and juicy, cooked perfectly.  The brown sauce is tangy and flavorful.  Veggies are onions and peppers and HOT peppers if you ask for spicy.  Definitely recommend spicy.

Snow White Chicken
This is my all time favorite dish - chicken is the same as the basil chicken, but the white garlic sauce is delightful.  I wish I could order just the sauce and take it home to drink in the privacy of my own home.  I love the veggies - snow peas, cauliflower, broccoli, mushroom.  Perfect.  I usually get it spicy but wanted to share with TNT.  SHE LOVED IT!  Loved the rice even more.  HAH!

Other favorites are the sizzling rice soup (or hot and sour depending on my mood), crab Rangoon, lo mein and Jing Chuan chicken.

Lunch is fun because you get soup, rice, entree and these two little chicken wings (that again, are probably gross to those of you that have not been eating it for 20 years).

A PLUS for this establishment for me.  I would go out on a limb and say it's top 5 restaurants in Toledo.

Sorry, these are terrible quality pics but it's hard to concentrate on quality when you have a 2 year old eating white rice out of the bowl with her hands.

LOVE this place. My favorite is Mongolian Beef and their hot and sour soup! Now I'm hungry. ;)

Thank you for your review. I am an introvert and I mostly order online from different restaurants. After reading your review, I will try out food items from this restaurant also.

Spring rolls are my favorite snack. I really wonder your cutie would have eaten the spicy food or it was with less spices. Overall it's a nice place to dine.
