Mercury Glass Project

My project:  Create centerpieces for my cousin's graduation party.

I have seen Mercury Glass before in Pottery Barn and other fancy-schmancy stores and it reminds me of my Nana's house at Christmas time.  So, basically, it's awesome.  Here is my DIY Mercury Glass project.  See below for my YouTube inspiration/education.

Items needed:
  • Paper towels (for covering and blotting)
  • Sprayer
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Looking Glass spray paint by Krylon (you have to use this exact paint or else yours will turn out like my first batch....crappy!)

  • Tape off glass
  • Spray INSIDE with Krylon in short bursts - let dry (30 seconds)
  • Spray inside with 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water solution
  • Wait a few seconds
  • Blot with paper towels (for a few of the taller items, I used a swiffer duster on a stick)
  • Repeat until you have the look you want

Tape off glass

Used the WRONG paint

See how it's crappy?

Messy -I'm turning into the tin man

Ok, now we are talkin!  $12 at Hobby Lobby

Better, right?

My favorite one

Here is how I learned:
