What happened to "excuse me" when you run into someone?

The new fad is to say....and it makes me crazy....

You're fine.

I just don't like it.

Example:  You go to open a door someone else is coming in.  You say, "excuse me," and the other person says, "You're fine."   It's a situation where no one is at fault, but rather you are both in the same place at the same time.  You should both say excuse me or, pardon me, or thank you, or something else polite.  Not, YOU'RE FINE, as if you are granting that other person permission to be in your space (which is actually not your space, but rather a public space).

I just have an issue with this.  I am noticing it more and more and more especially with 20somethings and younger.   I know, I know, it's me and my old age, but it just seems rude.

Maybe it's all the Donton Abbey.

I love hearing this rant!

And I totally agree. I feel in general people are just so rude. I hate it.

The thing that is driving me crazy lately is "I NEED to have...."

I hear this at a drive through or ordering food. The person will say "I need to have a XXXX". And there is never a please or thank you anywhere. you do not NEED TO HAVE. You would like XXX, or may I please have XXXX.

People are annoying. And I love when you talk about it!!!
