Weekend Update

We had a great weekend.  It was nice to relax, rejuvenate and unwind.

Wait -  how did this happen?  It doesn't seem like that long ago that I was counting down the hours until power happy hour but now it seems I look more forward to weekend projects and hangout/family time. Things change fast but somehow you don't notice when they do.

Friday night we saw Seinfeld perform at the Stranahan and he exceeded my expectations- we cracked up at his crazy voice inflection and nodded our heads at all the marriage stuff.  Sometimes one of of slapped the other one's arm.  Afterwards we went to Doc's for a late dinner and some drinks.  Then home.  It was a great and long day.

Ten years ago:  I would have found some excuse to cut out of work early to pre-game, showed up at Seinfeld half-cocked, then bought at least 4 beers during the show, missed half of it due to bathroom & smoke breaks.  Afterwards we would skip dinner only to hit the bar, then take cabs home and bribe the driver to take us to Taco Bell.

Saturday we had more weekend fun.  Got up early and worked out.  Went to a 1st birthday party for my friend's son.  My friend lives of of town, so I don't see her that often, but we have been friends since high school, so I know her entire family.  They are great people and we always have lots to catch up on and lots of stories to tell.  After the party, I went over to visit my parents and my Dad and I watched Man of Steel (still need to watch the last hour, but it was a pretty good flick- best Superman movie I have seen).

Ten years ago:  Wake up hungover - some kind of greasy spoon diner breakfast.  Then nap.  Then go to the party and eat pizza and cake and beer.  Then second nap.  Then meet up with friends at the bar at 11pm.  Bribe cab driver to take us to Taco Bell.

Sunday was very productive.  We decorated the outside of our new house with Christmas lights and then made a nice big Sunday dinner that included a roasted chicken, roasted asparagus, and pumpkin herbed rice.  This was nice for us because we don't get to have dinner together all that often.  Watched the Giants lose :(  Then walked around the neighbor hood to check out the Lights and thought about how awesome our weekend was.

Ten years ago:  Sleep in as late as possible.  Make phone calls and texts apologizing for last nights behavior.   Watch bad afternoon tv.  Order pizza for dinner.  Watch the Giants win.  Ruminate on how awesome your weekend was.

Totally agree! I sub it for mayo too. And I wouldn't eat plain just by itself, but I LOVE chobani. Pretty much every flavor :)

Chobani is amazing. I don't want to be a yogurt snob, but I definitely feel like the Kroger brand is not as good. It's half the cost though! So maybe I will start loving it soon.
