Snapchat

As a 30ish year old person, I have to ask myself the question...

Am I too old for Snapchat?  A buddy at work is leaving and she wanted me to keep in touch with her via Snap (Snapping?).   What's wrong with good old fashioned texting?

Here are my observations:
  • Nothing really gets accomplished on Snapchat.
  • The messages delete and are no longer viewable.
  • However, they still have a placeholder in your inbox.
  • Takes up space on your phone.
  • They are only viewable for 7 seconds.
  • What is so important that you have to Snap it?
  • I'm sure there is still a record of it out there so "filthy" type pics are not safe.  Lol.
Here are my questions:
  • Do you Snapchat?
  • Do you let your kids Snapchat?
  • Do you get it?
  • Do you have time for it?

I had never heard of Snapchat until a couple of weeks ago when S at Sassytimes told me about it. It seems a bit strange to me and I agree with you. . . what good can come from it?

In my opinion? Seven seconds of my life that I won't get back.

OMG, I didn't know what SnapChat was until one of my friends showed me one night while out. I was so confused. 7 seconds...then it's gone? That can ONLY be used for bad things. It seems so pointless. I get distracted easily...then, boom, 7 seconds is over and I didn't even see what you sent me. Dumb. I think kids use it for filth...or things they don't want their parents seeing, but you are right...it's ALWAYS there. Somewhere. Gross.

With that though, after a few drinks, it WAS pretty funny to 'snap' people photos back and forth of well, ugly faces. And really, no one needs to see those again. Hahahahaha.

Would I add it to my own phone? Nope. Waste of space. And time.

Honestly, I've heard the name but have spent virtually NO TIME figuring out what the heck it is.

Nope. No time. Done.

My sister (eight years younger) told me I needed to get this on my phone. She said she would demo it when we were on vacation.

She did.

I didn't understand it.

I asked her what the point of that was as I barely got to see the picture. Told her at my age it takes about 5 seconds to make the connection of what I am looking at ;-)

She tried to convince me that we could send funny pictures to each other but then they would disappear and then no one would know and it would be hilarious.

I still don't get it. It is not on my phone.

Apparently I am in the next check box as I do not find what these young kids are doing these days hilarious anymore :-)

I have given Snapchat the ol' college try and I am too old for it. Any funny pics I want to access for more than 7 seconds. What if I get distracted? Snapchat is not for me.
