What to get your Husband on your Wedding Day

I am not sure if I ever told you the story about our what I decided to get DT as a wedding gift.  I did get him the more traditional gifts of pocket watch with initials and wedding date & cuff links so he could wear them both on our wedding date.

However, as I worried myself into a tissy (that's a mom expression), I was worried that this was not FUN enough.  Ridiculous.  He had always mentioned that he wanted to enter our reception behind the Ibis, the Miami Hurricanes mascot, through a fog machine.  Sound crazy?  Not to a sports nut.

So, I wanted things to be perfect.  To a T.  Being an event planner, I think I can pull off anything.  So I called the University of Miami and of course it was thousands of dollars to get Sebastian (that's his name), plus we got married in October, in the middle of football season, so there was no way.

I had to get crafty.

Costume Holiday House is my stop for all things Halloween and my girl Erin there is so amazing, she is always willing to help and has great ideas.  I was able to rent a Donald Duck costume and with some creative touches (add sailor hat, felt eyebrows, jersey, switched out tights colors and feet) wha-la, WE HAVE AN IBIS!

Then, I had to bribe convince Danny's cousin, who is a maniac, to dress up, in tights, to surprise Danny.  So this macho, successful, 30something male got into tights with the help of his wife for us.  Thank you Chris and Natalie!  Plus, they kept it a secret for a month!  No one knew about my plot!

Finally, our wedding day came and I almost forgot about "the surprise" until we got to the after hours party.  Chris, or SEBASTIAN, came running out and acted like a lunatic, taking pictures with everyone, high-fiving, dancing, it was incredible!  Better than I could have imagined!  He never spoke, so people wondered who he was and were conjecturing - which I loved!  We had about 350 people at our wedding and this was after midnight now, so I would say at least 200 drunk people, plus a late night snack buffet, plus more booze plus a mascot?!?!  PARTY!

Needless to day, DT loved it and so did his family, all Canes fans and I was satisified that I had given my groom a present he would never forget.

Danny being surprised - his Dad being elated!
Fist pump for Sebastian
