Old Time Rock n Roll

As I walked into work today, I heard someone humming.  Humming really weirds me out - why do people do that??  Anyway, she was listening to music...ON A DISCMAN!   It looked like this:

I remember having one of these in the summer of 1993 - before I started high school.  I listened to Pearl Jam's TEN about a zillion times on that poor little machine, that disc was my first purchase from Columbia House in Terra Haute IN (remember the stamps?)   That little discman would whirl and whirl and whirl...it would get so hot.   What a great invention!  For my poor family mostly - so they didn't have to listen to Yellow Ledbetter over and over and GnR, then Metallica and Nirvana.  AH, the anger classics.

I have upgraded since then, although my 3rd generation nano is sooooo old news when it comes to music now...

Nice! I had one of those too! And I have the same ipod - in silver.

I never understood how people ran with the discman.

My sister and I were just talking about the discman this week! I used mine ALL through college and way past that. Yep, in 2002 I was still walking around with my discman in my backpack and my jumbo headphones on and didn't stop using it until a few years ago.

To this day I STILL do not own an ipod. I know *GASP*

Terry got one, but it is his. Good luck getting the sappy music I like to listen too sometimes on there :)

I still like the discman. I like having one cd and being forced to listen to it. Of course, the convenience factor isn't there....but I would throw in some Indigo girls and sit and listen to the CD and it. was. AWESOME :)

aaaahh, memories!!
