Monster in My Garden
Last night as I was watering my garden I noticed the smell of something rotten, like, really horribly pudridly, rotten. I looked under the enormously large cherry tomato bush, under the deck, and over the fence - nothing. What IS that smell? The flies were also rampant which was making me nervous. Did I leave a piece of meat out here?
Finally, I looked in the flower bed and find a DEAD SQUIRREL. Sick. It had so many flies all over it that d I almost vomited. I really almost barfed. I covered my mouth with my shirt and plugged my nose (yes, like a fourth grader) to look closer and noticed it was still kind of breathing. OMG! So I did what any other person would do - I ran into the house like a bat out of hell. Screaming. I may have left the hose on.
Today when I went out there....the squirrel was gone! Someone (or something) must have finished him off! So basically I have a monster living in my garden.

Garden in July
Growing your very own garden is extremely fun and rewarding (when stuff actually grows). Here are the "vegetables" of my labor:
The Garden
Cucumber
Cayenne Peppers
Habenero Peppers
Jalapenos
Dill, notice how HIGH it has grown. I had to put a cage up for it.
Beefsteak Tomatoes (also Early Girl and Heirloom)
Cherry tomato plants - let me tell you something, this bush is really going crazy. Haha!
Zucchini and Squash Plants

Watermelon? How huge is this? I put an orange on it so you would understand the mammoth-ness. Good Lord.

Wedding Venues
We have officially started the search for wedding venues and I would LOVE my faithful readers opinions and comments.
We have a large group - about 350 - and would like everyone in the same room, large dance floor, with a separate area for cocktail hour. Plus, we really want it inside and don't want to chance the weather.
Here is our progress so far:
1) Train Station - too small, no cocktail area
2) Parkway Place - contender. Have it on hold for 10/22/11
3) Secor Building - seeing tomorrow
4) Gladiuex Meadows - seeing Saturday
5) Stranahan Theater/Great Hall - seeing Saturday (hopefully)
6) Graystone Hall - sounded good on a website, looked not so good in pictures, plus the rep called me at 9:50 pm on a Tuesday night from his home. Creepy.
7) Holiday Inn French Quarter - Future Bro In Law was married there
8) Crowne Plaza - Cousin married there this year
9) HGI Levis - my cousin last year, his cousin next year
10) Pinnacle - too stuffy? I heard over priced
11) Art Museum - Did not return two of my inquires. Also heard you cannot drink red wine there.
12) Toledo Country Club - possible
13) Willis B. Boyer - yes, on a boat mutha f***a. Still need to hear back from them
14) Maumee Bay - won't book until October 2010 for October 2011. I don't want to wait that long to book.
ANY OTHER IDEAS????? THOUGHTS? What did you do?
**Note these two pics look fabulous but the first one is in England on the Thames and the second in California. Out of the budget perhaps.

I'm back
Well, I am back from vacation and I don't like it - not one bit. Now I have to go back to work, start working out and dieting, and well, get back to reality.
Regular blogging to commence. Sorry for the absence.

Hazelton PA
We stopped in Hazelton last night around 3am to rest on our way to the shore. Since most hotels were sold out we would up at "America's Best Value Inn.". It was cheap and worked for what we wanted. I needed to share the tropical curtains and glo-globe with you. What I didn't get a pic of was the shampoo that looked like a ketchup packet - I have never seen anything like it. I would have needed a salad dressing packet to wash this mop.

You.....CHORK!
You know how fun it is to use chopsticks? If you are saying yes then skip this post. If you are saying, "Well, I waaaaaaaaant to use chopsticks, but I get tired of them after 2 spicy tuna rolls and then need to switch to a fork," then keep reading.
Introducing the CHORK! This utensil is a chopstick/fork combo that let's you have all the fun of an Asian restaurant without the hassle (can you hear the infomercial now?). Doesn't it sound like a 4th grade playground insult? Like a new hybrid of a dork? "Tommy's got on jeans with pleats - what a CHORK!"
Anyway, these are hilarious and even more hilarious are the testimonial on the CHORK website.
Don't be a chork...Check out the website here. Check out this video. Nice demonstration of color:

“That’s great, now my husband can use chopsticks with me and still be able to poke at the hard to pickup scraps.”
Well, thank Buddha your husband can poke at the hard scraps. What?
“What a great Idea, I can’t believe its not already out.”
Again, WHAT? It IS already out. Who wrote these?
