Super Shady Piece of Mail

A few days ago I received a notice in the mail letting me know that my polling location had switched.  Odd - I have not moved but maybe they changed locations due to the school's structure or something.  Ok, fine.

I went to the "new" location and the sweet, sweet old man at the desk told me I was in the wrong location.

"Is this your first time voting, honey?"  God Bless you, no.
"You have to go to Precinct J."  Of course I do. My original polling location.

I headed back to the car and rolled over to the other place which was now crawling with grade schoolers (who scare me because they are rude and are often way taller than I am).  They say weird things and intimidate the crap out of me.  I hate it.

I asked the cute, even older guy over there about the sketchy piece of mail.  He told me that he was wondering if anyone had gotten this fake notice and turned to his stack of papers and pulled out an official looking flyer that explained the situation.

Adjusts glasses..."You see, each political party has been sending registered voters of the other party these fliers.  They look like they are from the board of elections, but they are not.  No-sirree, they are not.  These folks figure that if you went to the wrong place, you will give up and not vote.  But good for you dear, you did your civic duty!"

Isn't that crazy?

I will scan this literature and upload so you can see it.  So crazy - I am sort of blown away by this.

It seems like that should be illegal!

I have heard about this, very sketchy. If you can't win the right way maybe you are doing things wrong.

What?! I can't believe it's gotten to that point. That sounds like one step away from mob tactics or something.

YIKES. I'm glad the fake location wasn't in, like, an abandoned crackhouse or something. Maybe next year. Wow.

That's absolutely ridiculous. And so very, very sad.

Wow. That is horrible and sad. I am so frustrated with where politics has gone. It is a disgrace really.

P.S. As a person who just LOVES old people and being around them....I love going to the elections and seeing them all working. My parents have worked the elections since I was little, so I use to go help out and seperated ballots with the old people (before electronic days!)

I know it can take longer because they move slow and are very precise...but I LOVE it. Seeing them there with their glasses, canes, and voting stickers makes me smile.

@ Erika Jean

I agree - this seems like it should be illegal.

It is illegal---it is called electoral fraud. If you want to take action, check out this link to see what you can do.
