Megabus...why do you make me a liar?

On my way home from Chicago this weekend, I opted to take the Megabus, citing that it would be easier and actually faster than traveling by plane because it is so convenient. Well, Megabus, you made me out to be a liar!he Megabus was 2 hours late! I waited for seriously an hour and 45 minutes outside at Central Station in Chicago yesterday, and let me tell you, it was less than balmy. I called customer service and they just kept telling me the bus was "right around the corner."

When the bus did finally get there, it was packed. I had to sit next to someone, they didn't show a movie, and we didn't stop at a rest area (so I was dying of thirst). Don't say it Hurley...you get what you pay for. I guess the Megabus is a gamble at this point.

Unless the Megabus was cruising along at 600 miles per hour, I'm pretty sure that it isn't faster than an airplane!?! AL-SO, in 2 hours of waiting for the Megabus, it never occured to you to get a drink?!? I haven't been on a bus in 13 years, that I can recall, but I'm positive that the last time I was, wasn't a favorable experience. Suck it up and travel by air next time.

i've heard good things about megabus though? so maybe it was a fluke and deserves a second chance?

p.s. - with the airlines being so crappy, you'd think they'd capitalize on an opportunity to make more returning customers, but at this rate.....

Have you ever considered Grey Hound? It's like $80 round trip and they tend to be more reliable...as far as buses go.

Have you ever been to the Greyhound station in Toledo??? Terrifying is all I have to say. I picked my dad up from there (he's another bus enthusiast) and I could not get over the funky people he was ridin' dirty with.

I’m sorry, I really don’t mean to laugh at your misfortune, but this story is SOOOO FUNNY! I can’t stop laughing at how customer service kept telling you that the bus was “right around the corner.” I just keep picturing a bus stop full of people, looking with high hopes at every bus that turns that corner. And they let out a collective sigh of disappointment with each passing bus that is not theirs.

Yes, I have. When some friends from Canada came down to visit when I lived in Toledo, one got left behind, and I had to take him to the GreyHound station, and I had to pay, because he didn't have any money. It for sure, was dirty.

OK fess up - now tell us all how much (or how little) you paid for the Megabus?

I paid $28.00 for a one way.

What Hurley didn't say then, I will...

My point here, cogidubnus, is that I have just been saying how fantastic the megabus is and they are making me a liar. Their service used to be better and they are slipping. Prices are cheap, yes, but service was better when it was cheaper still.
