Kroger spinach bugs me

Last night I was making dinner and got out a brick of frozen spinach. As it started to thaw, I noticed a red speck in the middle of it. As I looked closer, I realized it was a lady bug. Yes, a lady bug (or beetle) was frozen solid in my greens. Ick. I called Kroger and they are refunding my money and also replacing the product. I had dreams of Supermarket Sweep or a $500.00 gift certificate, but I guess an upgrade to brand name spinach will do.

If you look closely, you can see the wings are split,
and the body is dark and to the left. EW.

That is absolutely horrifying. I may never shop at kroger again. Just imagine what else may be lying DEAD in our food.

I almost threw up looking at that. I will forever inspect my frozen food!

UMM....i would totally be sending this proof into the company that made the product (maybe it was Kroger, and in that case i'd be talking to corporate). either way, this is NOT okay and you deserve something more than $1.50 for the spinach.

I'm pretty sure I would have flicked it off and cooked it anyway. Bugs chill on produce all the time.

Should I not admit that? (You still deserve more that a free pack of spinach though.) DEFINITELY warrants a free cake... that's what I'd want... I'm out of cake. I'll go back to my own blog now...

OK, I know we always talk about you eating weird stuff, Iris, but this takes the cake. I'm so glad you saw it before you ate it!!!

that is seriously gross.

Oh sick!

I never understood the replacing the product as payment. "Oh, you found a finger in your Coke? Here's a lifetime supply."

I doubt I could go anywhere near another frozen block of spinach right after seeing that. My gag reflux would seriously kick in.

You said Supermarket Sweep! HA!

Stop buying Kroger brand! It's cheaper for a reason. It's not like they have a giant Kroger Spinach Farm somewhere in a warm climate! They get there spinach at a huge discount, because they are the last to get to the market, and the shit that is left is a Lady Bug fucking ground.

I don't know whether I'm disgusted or not. I'm not a fan of bugs, but this just seems so sad. It's torn to pieces and then frozen. Poor lady bug...

SO GROSS! BLECH!

Yes, you should really get something more for having to open your food up and see that! Kroger brand or not, this is not cool.

just another reason for you to hate kroger!... why do you still go there?

I agree with Moeness, Kroger is for people that can't afford to eat out, or people without transportation that can walk there.
