Early morning rant

Do you work? Do you have a job? Do you have a life?
Chances are you have one of these things which means you are a busy person (as we ALL are).

While at work, do you ever encounter a co-worker and ask them a question, or just politely say hello and the response you get is, "UH, I'm a little busy right now," followed by eye roll or swift walk away. Well, when that happens to me here is what I want to say. "OH YEAH, WELL ME F*$*ING TOO, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT I AM NOT GOING TO SAY HI BACK TO YOU OR ACT LIKE A HUMAN BEING DOES IT? SORRY THAT YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH AND I HAVE BROKEN YOUR EFFICIENT WORK STRIDE BY SIMPLY SAYING HELLO. LET ME GO BACK TO FILING MY NAILS AND CURLING MY HAIR AT MY DESK."

Too bad my reaction is something to the effect of, "Ok, well, come get me or call me when you have a sec, k?"

Iris, you have hit the nail on the head (how's that for an idiom??)!!!! And that particular co-worker is annoying as hell, so I can relate to your frustration. You are the most friendly person ever, so if anyone is going to be a jerk to you, I'm comin' after 'em!!!

Want me to come down there and take care of them for ya? I've got the time. You'll just have to hold Athena for a minute, but she's cool. :)

Oh, how true this is!!!! You are spot on!

What happened to people being polite and kind?

I often wonder though if these people are really THAT busy or if they just think so highly of themselves that they THINK they are that busy. (I go with the later)

Oh how I wish you could have one day where you could just say stuff like what you wrote and there were no consequences at all!

I always answer that garbage with "okay, well, try to get ahold of yourself, and when you're not so busy, please DO find time to fuck off." I also hate when you ask someone how they are, when you really don't care, and they reply "Tired." How lame! I usually say "you know, now that you mention it, you look a little tired, did you drink a lot last night, because that's what it looks like." Then watch how they change their "tired song."

Although I don't have a job right now, I remember over the summer working at a bank, I had similar issues. If a customer would be talking on their cell phone and I had to ask them a question about their account or their transaction, I can't tell you how many times I would get told that they were on the phone with something "important," even though more than half the people on the phone were talking about their plans for the day or what they just bought for someone's birthday.

When this would happen, I would just think, "I'm not here to make your life easier. This is not a service just for YOU. This is my job and I have more important things to do than sit here and twiddle my thumbs (or do something else with my thumbs) and wait for you to finish that needless phone call!"

AGH, people!

So, so, SO well said.

I have to be honest, this is precisely what I do not miss working in my previous workplace.

The Cabo-work world is much more laid back. You never get that crap.

Een, that message above is from me. My boss was signed in on my computer, hence his name popped up as the comment writer. Sorry about that!
