Why beat a dead cat when you have 3 birds in the trees?

Someone just said to me:
"Well, let's not kill a dead snake here...."

We all know these people, the people that constantly use cliches and idioms and most often, use them incorrectly. I love this. All I can do is smile and hope I remember the mixed-up phrase so I can share later. Heard any good ones lately?

I also found a good site that explains the source of some idioms. Read them here.

A guy at my work said he's good like an old shirt. I said do you mean "off like a dirty shirt?" he said that doesn't make sense. He said "you know like an old shirt you wear all the time?" I said "yes, I hear what you're saying, but I don't think that is an actual idiom, I think you just made it up and it doesn't make sense." He said "uh-huh, ask my mom." I said "get out of my office...now!"

Not sure if this applies to this conversation, but I can't stand when people say "I could care less" - that doesn't make sense!!! It should be "I COULDN'T care less."

Girl at work says "So we were all just standing around choking the chicken when..."
"Sorry to interupt, but you were what?"
"We were standing around all just choking the chicken. Did I use it wrong?"
"I think you meant... you know what? Nevermind. You're right. Proceed with your story."
-And this is why I have bad karma.
