We just got back from my cousin's wedding in Pittsburgh and it was TREMENDOUS! First, I would like to give a shout out to my awesome parents for driving, doing all the preparations, paying for everything and being the coolest, most fun, most caring parents in the world. I am so privileged to have The Captain and Ange!
Ok, so we take a 4 hour drive to Pburgh, check in and then go explore. Downtown Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers (where the Ohio is formed). There are HUGE yellow bridges that span the river, connecting the downtown area. PNC Park is where the Pirates play and Heinz Field is where the Steelers play. Our hotel was in between these two stadiums and amongst lots of eateries and bars. There is a riverfront walkway that we took a run/jog on Saturday morning. Overall, very fun downtown atmosphere.
The reception at Heinz Field was excellent. The ballroom overlooked the river and had a balcony attached that wrapped around the side of the building so you could see into the stadium. Even the Browns fans were impressed (well, kind of). We had cocktail hour out on the terrace and the dinner in the ballroom. Drinks and dancing, toasts and laughing. I am blessed to have a large, fun-loving, celebratory family. My big sister wasn't there; she was in China for her masters program (good excuse!).
The Bride and Groom are a great couple and I wish them all the happiness in the world. My cousin picked a good one! They are off to Cabo tomorrow (so jealous).
